More than 120 delegates are expected to attend the 27th ICMIF/Americas Annual Conference (August 21-23, 2019) in Mendoza, Argentina, hosted by the Argentinean Association of Cooperative and Mutual Insurers (AACMS) and the Association of Insurers of the Interior of the Argentine Republic (ADIRA).
The theme of this year’s ICMIF/Americas Annual Conference, Collaborating and Innovating for the Digital Age, will provide a focus on how cooperative and mutual insurers can embed innovation and agility into their businesses and harness the power of collaboration in order to thrive in the fast-changing digital age.
ICMIF is delighted to confirm that Ariel Guarco, President of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) will be one of the keynote speakers. His presentation will be entitled “Cooperativism – a Key Actor in the Agenda 2030”.
In his presentation, Guarco will discuss the size and impact of the global cooperative/mutual movement, perhaps one of the largest movements in the world. The International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) is an organization founded in 1895 and is the only one that has survived two world wars and which is permanently heard in the United Nations. Guarco will share his belief that the cooperative/mutual business model is best equipped to meet people’s economic, social and cultural needs and aspirations. This is because cooperatives and mutuals do business in a democratic way, placing human beings at the heart of their strategy and actions, being rooted in local communities and always committed for peace. Guarco will set out his belief in the mission and capacity for cooperatives and mutual to transform today’s world, highlighting the ways in which our sector is a key actor in meeting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The second confirmed keynote speaker at the Conference is Hilde Vernaillen, Chair, ICMIF and Chair of the Management Committee, at ICMIF member organisation P&V (Belgium). In her keynote presentation, Hilde Vernaillen will showcase Belgian cooperative insurer P&V’s journey to digitize their business and integrate digitalization and innovation into overall strategy whilst sustaining their cooperative values.
The insights delegates can expect to gain from attending the Conference include:
