ICMIF member Folksam (Sweden) has signed an agreement with Pensionärernas riksorganisation (PRO) – the Swedish National Pensioners’ Organisation – to provide a range of insurance products exclusively to the organisation’s members. The agreement means that all the insurance products offered to PRO’s 320,000 members will be from Folksam.

“We are very happy that, after a 12-year hiatus, we get the chance to collaborate with PRO again. Folksam’s strength is to create benefits for large groups and PRO is just such a group that we have prioritised working with. Now we look forward to a strong and close relationship with PRO and its members” says Elisabeth Sasse, head of Folksam’s non-life business.

PRO members can now, among other things, take out group home, over 60s accident and over 60s sickness insurance with Folksam. The insurance cover is not included in PRO’s membership fees but offered to members via separate mailings and its membership magazine.

It is important for everyone to be insured and through Folksam, PRO can offer good and affordable insurance to our membership” says Johanna Hållén, General Secretary of PRO.

The 26,000 members who previously had accident insurance with Trygg Hansa have been offered the chance to transfer this policy to Folksam, when the insurance period expires on the last day of December.

This agreement will take effect on 1 January 2021.

Since it was founded in 1908, Folksam has co-operated with the major trade union parties and sport federations in Sweden making it possible to reduce prices by offering group insurance. Through its group home insurance, the mutual insurer has contributed to a significant change in the number of uninsured homes. Other group solutions offered by Folksam are pension savings, group life, sickness and accident insurance.
