Lionel Messi is the new face of the Argentinian insurer and ICMIF member Sancor Seguros. The cooperative insurer has launched a marketing campaign to celebrate this and is getting ready to maximise the opportunities of working side by side with Messi, currently said to be the best footballer in the world, in the lead-up to the 2018 World Cup (to be held in Russia in June).

In addition, Sancor Seguros has announced that it will be working with the Leo Messi Foundation on a number of social programmes linked to health and education with the goal of helping the Foundation support the development of children and adolescents currently at risk. The Foundation was established in 2007 by Messi and his family and it works to ensure that children are able to eat well; receive a good education and medical treatment; have space for recreation and to practice sports; and grow up in a healthy way in general.

“As an Official Sponsor of the Argentinian national football team for the World Cup we are very proud to be able to associate our organisation’s brand with that of a national hero with whom we share the same origins. Both Messi and the Sancor Seguros Group were born in the province of Santa Fe in Argentina. Also, it is natural that the number one insurer in the Argentinian market is associated with another undisputed number one, in this case, from the world of football,” said Osiris Trossero, Director of Institutional Relations at the Sancor Seguros Group.

Trossero went on to say that this is not the first time that the Sancor Seguros Group has acted as a Social Partner of the Foundation. Some years ago the Group provided a mobile medical unit which helped to carry out medical tests for over 200 young people. “This activity is part of our cooperative philosophy and our firm social commitment to children and future generations,” concluded Trossero.
