Prices are as below:
- Standard king or two queen beds: USD 187.15 (inclusive of all taxes, based on either single or double occupancy)
- King or double corner room: USD 231.98 (inclusive of all taxes, based on either single or double occupancy)
Please note that if you stay at the Hotel Fort des Moines, the breakfast will be offered by our host EMC Insurance Companies, on Wednesday 7 to Friday 9 June inclusive.
At present the cancellation policy is as follows: a room may be cancelled 48 hours prior to arrival date without penalty by 3:00pm local time. If the reservation is cancelled or modified after that time, the guest will be charged one-night room and tax.Â
Des Moines: A Midwestern hub buzzing with big-city attractions
Nearly a quarter of a million people live in Des Moines, Iowa’s state capital and most-populous city.
With a longstanding reputation as a dependable center of banking and finance, today's downtown Des Moines is ready to delight visitors. You'll find plenty of shopping, dining, arts and entertainment in this modern Midwestern cultural hub.
Airport and transportation to hotel
The airport is a 10-15min drive from the Hotel Fort Des Moines (8km). The easiest way to reach the hotel is by taxi.
Cancelation policy
Any cancellations received prior to Monday 1 May 2023 will be given 90% refund. Any cancellations on or after Monday 1 May 2023 will be subject to the event fee being paid in full. The fee will be kept as credit and your company will be able to use it later against any other paying activity organised by ICMIF (including other conferences or leadership courses) for up to two years (June 2025).
Welcome Reception
The Welcome Reception will take place in the Hotel Fort Des Moines on Tuesday 6 June. The location of the event will be the Speak Easy area situated on -2 level, from 19:00 until 22:00.
The ICMIF Welcome Reception will allow delegates to meet each other, exchange ideas and relax together upon arrival in Des Moines.
The evening will include a flavour of the local food and wine in a very unique venue.
Farewell dinner
The final dinner is offered by our host EMC Insurance Companies and will be held at the prestigious World Food Prize Hall of Laureates. It is a world-class museum that has been created to recognize great achievements in agriculture and fighting hunger and is also home for the expanding Global Youth Institute, which aims to inspire the next generation of leaders. During the evening you will have the pleasure to discovered the magnificently restored Beaux Arts spaces of the building.
For this dinner, shuttle bus will leave the hotel Fort Des Moines to transport all delegates to the World Food Prize Hall of Laureates.
Please meet in the hotel lobby for scheduled shuttle at 17:45, 18:00 & 18:15.
For return to the hotel, the same shuttle will leave the venue at 21:30, 21:45 and 22:00.
Climate/local time
Des Moines time zone is USA Central Time, like Chicago. In June, the climate is usually pleasantly warm with a gentle breeze, however bear in mind that Des Moines is a city with a significant rainfall throughout the year.
Dress code
The dress code for all Conference sessions is smart business attire. For the welcome reception and Gala dinner we recommend smart casual.
Electricity
Electrical current is 120 volts, 60Hz. Plugs are mainly the type with two flat pins, though three-pin plugs (two flat parallel pins and a rounded pin) are also widely used. European appliances without dual-voltage capabilities will require an adapter.
Passport & Visa
It is highly recommended that travellers' passports have at least six months' validity remaining after the intended date of departure from Des Moines. A visa is required for short visits unless travellers qualify for entry under the Visa Waiver Program, in which case they need an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).
