The A4S Academy, offered by ICMIF’s partner organisation Accounting for Sustainability (A4S), is an 18 month online learning and implementation programme for senior finance leaders to enable them to embed sustainability.
The programme empowers and equips finance teams with the skills needed for their businesses to succeed in the face of environmental and social risks and opportunities. The 2024 A4S Academy Programme begins in June and the deadline for applications is 29 March. ICMIF members are invited to register for the Academy.
In a recent survey of finance leaders (A4S Finance Leaders’ Sustainability Barometer), it was found that there is a gap between sustainability ambitions and the work needed to make them a reality. Less than half of those surveyed believed their finance team had the skills and competencies required to remedy this gap. A4S says making a direct, practical impact on the participant’s organisation is built into the Academy course and so can help to bridge the gap. Following a series of seminars, participants develop and deliver a personal implementation plan to drive change within their organisations.

Why this, why now?
Accounting for Sustainability (A4S) was established by HM King Charles III in 2004, when he was The Prince of Wales, with the aim of inspiring action by finance leaders to drive a fundamental shift towards resilient business models and a sustainable economy.
A4S and ICMIF formed a partnership in 2019, founded on shared values and shared purpose, and ICMIF hopes to encourage more member organisations to become involved in the work of the A4S as it expands on a global basis.
