Registration is now open for the 2024 ICMIF Biennial Conference, which will take place from 12-15 November 2024 in Buenos Aires (Argentina), hosted by ICMIF members the Argentinean Association of Cooperative and Mutual Insurers (AACMS) and the Association of Insurers of the Interior of the Argentine Republic (ADIRA).
The ICMIF Biennial Conference is the premier global gathering of 350+ mutual and cooperative insurance leaders from across the world. Described by past attendees as “a conference with a difference”, the inspirational presentations, provocative panel discussions, and unrivalled peer-to-peer networking opportunities have been designed to stimulate original ideas for better business performance and strategic advantage: helping leaders create real, lasting value for their organisations, their member-policyholders, and the communities they serve.
Collaborating with purpose: People, performance and partnerships
The theme for this year’s Conference is Collaborating with purpose which will address the priority strategic issues around people, performance and partnerships to inspire and assist leaders to transform their businesses and promote effective collaboration for a resilient, purpose-led future.
Each day will explore a pivotal element of the Conference theme:
- People: The importance of talent and leadership in navigating emerging issues and driving competitive growth as customer-centric businesses.
- Performance: Balancing purpose and sustainability goals with financial success and effectively leveraging new technology trends for greater operational excellence.
- Partnerships: Collaboration at a global scale to achieve strategic goals and enhance the resilience of the communities we serve.
Speaking about the ICMIF Biennial Conference in Buenos Aires, Liz Green, ICMIF CEO Designate, said “The theme of the ICMIF Centenary Conference in Rome in 2022 was Leading with purpose and so for Buenos Aires we have developed the theme towards Collaborating with purpose as we look at how organisations within the incredible ICMIF global community can collaborate to address common strategic priorities and actually work together to solve some of the world’s biggest problems to make the world a safer, more resilient place.”
“We expect more than 350 CEO, senior executives and Young Leaders in Buenos Aires, all of whom have the opportunity to gain clear insights into the trends that are shaping the future of our industry from the plenary sessions, breakout discussions and networking. They will learn about practical solutions to common challenges from fellow mutual/cooperative insurers and develop trusted relationships and connections with other leaders from across ICMIF’s diverse, global network” added Liz Green, who formally takes over as CEO of ICMIF in November this year. Liz and current ICMIF CEO Shaun Tarbuck recently discussed the ICMIF Conference as well as other key events and activities for members to take part in and benefit from in 2024 in the first of a series of quarterly fireside chats.
Further information on the 2024 Conference agenda will be announced shortly, although ICMIF members can view the agenda for the 2022 ICMIF Conference here (or access video recordings from the 2022 event via the ICMIF Knowledge Hub or by contacting ICMIF).
Why leaders attend the ICMIF Conference
Watch our short video and hear from CEOs and other leaders from ICMIF member companies around the world speak of the many benefits for them and their organisations of attending the Biennial Conference, many of whom attend time after time.
“In my view the ICMIF Biennial Conference series provides a unique opportunity for cooperative and mutual leaders to share, learn and network. I have attended five Biennials so far and, in each case, I left with knowledge and ideas that moved our coop forward and with connections that have led to fruitful partnerships.” said Rob Wesseling, President and CEO, Co-operators (Canada).

A unique experience to develop the next generation of mutual leaders
ICMIF is also pleased to announced that it will host the fourth ICMIF Young Leaders Programme at the Biennial Conference in Buenos Aires. This unique programme is designed for young, emerging professionals, generally aged between 18 and 35, from mutual, cooperative and member-owned insurers, who have been recognised as strong candidates to become future leaders within their organisations. The programme provides participants with the opportunity to join the full ICMIF Conference at a discounted rate, whilst also engaging in exclusive sessions and networking events tailored to cater to their interests and enhance their professional development.
“Participating in the Young Leaders Programme was an extremely enriching experience, both on a personal and professional level. Together with colleagues from all over the world, we were able to address different challenges that affect our business globally and share each other’s expectations and strategies regarding them. Contact with young people from other countries allowed us to see different perspectives in similar situations and develop good practices for our industry,” said Ismael Blasco, Automobile Claims Manager, La Segunda Seguros (Argentina).
