In June 2023, the Superintendency of Insurance of Santo Domingo granted Ruth Soto Báez, the CEO of ICMIF member COOPSEGUROS, the only cooperative insurance company in the Dominican Republic, with a plaque in recognition for her dedication to service, empowerment of women and contribution to the insurance sector.
Ruth Soto expressed her gratitude to COOPSEGUROS and its President, Manuel Gutiérrez Rosario, for allowing her to develop her skills and abilities in the field of insurance, during the nine years she has been CEO of the cooperative insurer.
Later this summer, COOPSEGUROS also received an award for quality and excellence in insurance. In addition, both the exemplary leadership of Manuel Gutiérrez and the outstanding management of Ruth Soto Báez were rewarded with the title of the title of CEO of the Year
COOPSEGUROS says these two recognitions, awarded by the International Business Institute, mark a significant achievement for the organisation, highlighting its ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence in the insurance market.
“We are extremely pleased to have been honoured with these awards. Our mission persists in securing the financial sector for cooperatives, as they are the driving force that motivates us day after day,” said Manuel Gutiérrez.
Ruth Soto Báez, CEO of COOPSEGUROS, added: “It is an honour to receive this title on behalf of our entire team. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of excellence and to continue innovating for the benefit of our policyholders”.
COOPSEGUROS is sending a delegation headed by President Manuel Gutiérrez to the ICMIF Americas Conference, in Belo Horizonte (Brazil) which takes place 8-10 November 2023. Ms. Soto will take part in the panel discussion entitled Bridging the diversity gap: are we walking the talk? If not for shareholders, what’s our guide for the change?
Soto will be joined on stage by Lisa Gardi, Account Executive, Shelter Insurance (USA) who will kick off the debate with a presentation of the Shelter Women Advisory Group (SWAG). The session will also include: Rizick Rosario, VP Cooperative Liaison, Seguros Multiples (Puerto Rico); and Diego Gaita, Director General, Grupo San Cristobal (Argentina).
