Last month, Swedish ICMIF member Folksam announced it had been ranked as the most sustainable brand in the insurance category and KPA Pension, which is part of the Folksam Group, has won the pension company category for the twelfth year in a row in the Sustainable Brand Index for 2022.

The Sustainable Brand Index is Europe’s largest independent brand study focusing on sustainability. Once again, Folksam is in first place as it has been ranked by Sweden’s consumers as the best at sustainability in the insurance industry. For the twelfth year in a row, KPA Pension wins the pension company category.

“Folksam’s operations, size and the fact that we are customer-owned mean responsibility. We have the opportunity to influence, be long-term and contribute to sustainable development. Therefore, we offer insurance that increases security for customers while protecting people and the environment. It is very gratifying that customers perceive our high sustainability ambitions,” says Jens Wikström, Head of Sak Business Area at Folksam.

For example, Folksam offers insurance which is labelled as “Bra Miljöval” which means Good Environmental Choice, one of the world’s toughest ecolabels. Folksam also gives discounts to customers who make sustainable choices; sponsors gender equal sports; provides injury prevention advice to reduce the number of injuries; and drives the development towards a more circular and sustainable claims settlement.

The Sustainable Brand Index ranking has KPA Pension as the best in the industry in pensions, for the twelfth year in a row. Sustainability is one of KPA Pension’s cornerstones and the company says it was early in working for a future with good pensions and a more sustainable and equal society.

“KPA Pension works long-term with a clear focus on sustainability in every part of our business, and I think our customers know and appreciate that. Providing employees in municipalities and regions with a good pension based on sustainable and responsible asset management is our top priority. The fact that we are now for the twelfth year in a row named the most sustainable brand among pension companies makes me both proud and happy,” says Camilla Larsson, CEO of KPA Pension.

KPA Pension has worked actively on environmental and sustainability issues since 1998, when the company became the first financial company in Europe to be environmentally certified, according to ISO 14001. Through a responsible investment strategy and over SEK 260 billion in assets under management, there are also opportunities to make a difference. Through both exclusionary and influencing criteria, KPA Pension says it contributes to a more sustainable and equal society.
