ICMIF member Gore Mutual has launched its new telematics programme, Drive Good, in Ontario (Canada), allowing drivers to earn personalised discounts and rewards based on their driving habits. The programme, which went live on Monday 31 July, features a fully digital experience, managed through a smartphone app that provides real-time feedback to improve road safety. New customers receive a 10% welcome discount, with potential savings of up to 20% on renewal premiums based on driving scores.

Participants can earn points for good driving, and redeemable for gift cards from major retailers and restaurants. The app tracks driving behaviours, including turning, braking, and speeding, and translates these into savings and rewards, ultimately incentivising road-safety amongst drivers.

Gore Mutual supports its broker partners with exclusive resources and training to help them effectively introduce Drive Good to their customers. This innovative programme reflects Gore Mutual’s commitment to enhancing driver safety while offering financial incentives, making Drive Good a valuable addition to the Ontario insurance landscape.

“Over the years, road safety has become a growing concern for Canadians coupled with rising insurance costs. Drive Good by Gore Mutual™ presents an innovative solution that addresses these challenges. Through our telematics program, drivers are incentivized to adopt safer driving habits, earning discounts of up to 20% at renewal and rewards with major retailers they later can cash in on. These features provide a unique benefit, allowing consumers to save on premiums and derive further value from the rewards they receive, while also contributing to safer roads. As a modern mutual, we’re demonstrating our commitment to promoting safer roads and communities by leveraging technology. I firmly believe that together, we can create safer roads for all Canadians while making insurance more affordable.” said Laura Homanchuk, Director Personal Lines P&L Performance.

It is not the first time we have seen the Canadian-owned and operated mutual company launch a new initiative to foster safety and encourage mutual benefit. Back in May 2022, when a derecho storm hit South-West Ontario and Gore Mutual immediately deployed its claims teams to personally assist customers to have their homes repaired as quickly as possible.

Insurance that does good – this is Gore Mutual’s purpose.
