At the beginning of this year, ICMIF member La Segunda Seguros (Argentina) launched two new products: the first was the presentation of the cooperative insurer’s new and completely renewed application (app) for policyholders. The second launch was a campaign to promote La Segunda’s shift to digital policies, within the framework of its sustainability strategy, as from March they will stop printing on paper.
La Segunda sees both launches as being fundamental to the organisation this year after the investments it has made to achieve greater digitalisation; self-management for policyholders; and the investment in wider use of technology and innovation.
The new La Segunda Seguros app
With regard to the app, the new tool took a year to develop and La Segunda says it is superior to the previous edition (Net Vos) as it achieves a better customer experience by being more user-friendly. Within the app, there are many features that customers of La Segunda Seguros will enjoy, which will allow them greater self-management of their policies.
With the new La Segunda Seguros app, members will be able to check the status of their policies; take out a digital policy; download documents and certificates; make claims reports; pay policies or sign up for automatic direct debit; locate agencies; request assistance or towing; join the La Segunda Reward benefits programme; among other services.
The app is now available for download on Google Play or the App Store.
La Segunda Seguros will stop printing policies
Another important development of the insurer is the decision to stop printing policies from March this year in the motor, personal, retirement, fire, miscellaneous risks and ART areas of insurance cover.
With the adoption of digital policies, it is estimated that the number of reams of paper that would no longer be used in the automobile sector alone is equivalent to 400 trees. Likewise, La Segunda says, the impact is greater in the reduction of greenhouse gases; in the transportation of policies; and other elements that would otherwise make up the policy (toners, ink, etc).
La Segunda Seguros is a member of the United Nations Global Compact and also sits on the board of the local Pacto Global Red Argentina (the Argentinian network of the Global Compact). As part of La Segunda’s sustainability strategy, they are working towards to the fulfilment of the 2030 agenda by working towards achieving the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 12, 13 and 15. The savings made from no longer printing will be allocated to a joint action with the non-governmental organisation Nativas, which works on the implementation of environmental and cultural projects.
The advantages of the digital policy
Policyholders will be able to access their digital policy from their mobile phone, directly from the app or the website with greater agility. They will no longer have to wait for the physical policy to arrive or check if the one they have is out of date, but can manage it themselves and they can always have up-to-date information.
In addition, those who need to have their policy available when they do not have an internet connection, for example, when travelling, will be able to download it to their mobile phones whilst online and then consult it offline as needed.
Benefits of these actions from La Segunds Seguros
In addition to contributing to the care of the environment, those customers who join the sustainable movement will be able to participate in different prize draws being offered by the insurer.
As an incentive to sign up for a digital policy, from February to June 2023, La Segunda will raffle a bike and a skateboard per month and in July there will be a raffle of a TITO electric car, with all customers who have already signed up for a digital policy until the cut-off date being included in the draw.
To participate in the draws, customers must subscribe to a digital policy through the La Segunda Seguros App or the policyholder website.
