Driving the shift to a circular economy through prevention and sustainable claims management

The efficient use of resources is one of six target areas that underpins Folksam’s integrated sustainability efforts, with measurable objectives directly linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goal for responsible consumption and production (SDG 12): one of the six SDGs that Folksam focuses on.

By promoting the development of circular economy and minimising the consumption of resources, Folksam is hoping to exert its influence on other large companies in Sweden and internationally. It focuses its efforts to help make the transition to a more sustainable society: working with customers to prevent injuries or damage, and changing claims settlement within the industry from one that is linear to one that is circular. Sustainable claim settlement is a key part of Folksam’s plans to reduce waste and cut its carbon footprint as its aims to reach net zero emissions from its own operations by 2030.

In addition to influencing other industries and reducing its own resource allocation, Folksam also hopes to be able to shift its customers’ attitudes towards the circular economy. Sustainable claims management is central to reducing their customers’ consumption of energy and materials.
