During the 2019 UN Climate Action Summit, it was announced that Swedish ICMIF member Folksam was one of the founding members of the UN-convened Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance. Together with some of the world’s largest pension funds and insurers, they have committed to transitioning their investment portfolios to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
Sustainable investing and responsible asset ownership have been an integral part of Folksam’s sustainability efforts for nearly 20 years. In this webinar, it shares their responsible investing journey, from incorporating and prioritising ESG issues into all investment decisions, to becoming a global leader in green bonds and an influential advocate for climate-smart finance which is driving action on climate change. Participants in this webinar also hear how and why the Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance was convened by the UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP-FI) and Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), and how by being a part of the Alliance is core to Folksam’s values as a mutual insurer and contributes to their vision for their customers to feel secure in a sustainable world.
