Enhancing OneFamily’s employee value proposition

HR Forum

OneFamily (UK) has undertaken significant changes to enhance its employee value proposition (EVP) to align with its growth and digital transformation goals. By focusing on commercial alignment, digital adoption, and robust employee support, the organisation has fostered a more commercially driven culture. Key initiatives include comprehensive training programmes, clear communication strategies, and engagement activities to ensure employee buy-in. The new EVP highlights career growth opportunities, a supportive work environment, competitive compensation, and purpose-driven work, positioning OneFamily for continued success while maintaining a motivated and engaged workforce.

OneFamily, an investment and life insurance provider based in the UK, with a workforce of 750 employees, has recently undertaken significant changes to enhance its employee value proposition. Over the past year, OneFamily recognised the necessity of becoming more commercially focused to deliver on its purpose effectively. This realisation prompted the organisation to initiate changes aimed at fostering a more commercially driven culture. The leadership understood that achieving this goal required not only strategic adjustments but also the active engagement and support of their employees.

To successfully transform its EVP, OneFamily concentrated on three primary areas:

  • Commercial alignment: emphasising the importance of aligning the organisation’s goals with commercial objectives was a crucial step. OneFamily needed to ensure that its employees understood the significance of this alignment and how their roles contributed to the broader business strategy.
  • Digital transformation: as part of its growth strategy, OneFamily embarked on a digital transformation journey. This involved adopting new technologies and digital tools to improve operational efficiency and customer experience. The transformation required employees to adapt to new systems and processes, necessitating comprehensive training and support.
  • Employee engagement and support: OneFamily recognised that employee buy-in was essential for the success of these changes. The organisation focused on creating a supportive environment where employees felt valued and understood the impact of their contributions. This involved clear communication, opportunities for professional development, and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.

The process of redefining OneFamily’s EVP involved several strategic steps:

  • Assessment and planning: the first step was to assess the current state of the organisation’s culture and identify areas that required change. This involved gathering feedback from employees and conducting thorough analysis to understand the gaps and opportunities.
  • Communication strategy: clear and consistent communication was crucial throughout the transformation process. OneFamily ensured that employees were kept informed about the changes, the reasons behind them, and how they would benefit both the organisation and its workforce.
  • Training and development: to equip employees with the necessary skills for the digital transformation, OneFamily invested in extensive training programmes. These programmes aimed to enhance digital literacy and ensure that employees could effectively utilise new tools and technologies.
  • Engagement initiatives: OneFamily introduced various initiatives to boost employee engagement. These included regular town hall meetings, feedback sessions, and recognition programmes to celebrate achievements and contributions.

The newly defined EVP at OneFamily encompasses several key elements designed to attract and retain talent:

  • Career growth opportunities: OneFamily offers numerous opportunities for career advancement, supported by training and development programmes tailored to individual needs.
  • Supportive work environment: the organisation fosters a collaborative and inclusive culture where employees feel valued and supported.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits: OneFamily provides a comprehensive compensation package, including competitive salaries, bonuses, and benefits designed to support employees’ well-being.
  • Purpose-driven work: Employees at OneFamily are motivated by the organisation’s clear purpose and the impact of their work on customers’ lives.

OneFamily’s journey to redefine its employee value proposition reflects its commitment to growth, digital transformation, and employee engagement. By focusing on commercial alignment, digital adoption, and robust support for its workforce, OneFamily has created an EVP that not only attracts talent but also drives organisational success. This strategic approach ensures that OneFamily is well-positioned to achieve its goals while maintaining a strong, motivated, and engaged workforce.
